I love this page so much, it pains me to say that i had a lab throughout my childhood that was this same size and when we put her down it was so devastating to physically see how tired she was. dogs are very good at hiding pain to make you happy, pay attention to the signs 💕

My dog successfully lost most of his weight with prescribed food hills science metabolic formula. He was 116 now down to 83. Still needs to lose weight. I think his weight issue contributed to his early onset degenerative disc disease and hip issue. Now he has to be on gabapentin for pain. I was going to look into PT for him.

i hate to be another debbie downer in the comments and truck is absolutely adorable but labs should not be that chunky, it causes SO many problems. please have him lose a little so he’s back at a healthy weight. sincerely, a lab owner with a big baby who now has trouble even walking up the stairs.

As someone with a fat basset lab mix, his joints are kinda messed up. He’s also old and refuses to be active (walks 4 times a day) somehow doesn’t lose weight even with his little brother constantly antagonizing him
