Back to the 05 chase wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. The drivers who can't make it are going to eliminate themselves anyway why do we need a game 7 like the other sports? Racing isn't a stick and ball sport we don't need to conform to that style.

Get rid of the win and you're in. Top 15 in points after 26 races, they get to move on to a 10 race shoot out. Those 15 drivers start the 10 races with zero points. You'll earn stage points and be able to earn extra points by getting the pole fastest pit stop fastest lap. You could also lose points by getting penalties.

If the TV network says no and their word is law. Will we ever see a 36 race format? It just doesnt seem possible at this point.

The way I wanted to change would be to remove when and you’re in and then the top 16 in points will be put into the playoffs and then from there every 3 to 4 races you drop off the bottom drivers as it has been since the playoffs were introduced, but start the playoffs four weeks earlier into the season so then with the championship for they have the last 3 to 4 races of the season to Garner the most points which for them starts there at the first race of those 3 to 4 and the person who gets the most points from there at Phoenix earned this case next year at Homestead Miami they become the champion.

no matter what format they choose, it'll upset at least some fans. I personally like the current format AND win/in. both create drama and interest to carry thru the season
