THIS. This this this. The amount of times I've had to clarify that Rebels isn't synonymous with "kids of villains" is insane. Ever After High has so much narrative depth, ambiguity, and deep philosophical and political commentary. Descendants tried to do that, I think, but didn't come as close.

Like how Faybell is the daughter of the evil fairy & she’s a royal because she wants to be evil. Or how Cerise & Maddy are daughters of good guys, but are still rebells, because Cerise has no choice & Maddie wants everyone to be happy & free.

The one thing in descendants that always irritated me most is that the person who created the island was the beast, aka the guy that was cursed because he was a bad person and then got redeemed. They could have chosen literally (almost) any other prince and it would work

i believe in descendants that say that they brought villains back to life to punish them on the isle. but the whole purpose of the isle is to keep the heroes safe so surely they should’ve is left them dead.

I would of been fine with the descendants plot if the kids were put there for there parents crimes and that would be where the plot of why the villain kids aren't really living up to their parents because of their parents but imagine if their acting that way because if their being punished for a crime they didn't commit might as well be what they see you as. It make Ben who really needed more deeper moments in my opinion not only grow conflicting feelings with his parents but also most of the other kids at the school would feel about their parents. It'd make things so much more morally grey on each side

I think in descendants, the villains who were supposed to have died were revived and living on the isle was a punishment worse than dying, but I'm not sure if that was a fan theory or something that was mentioned in the books

Yeah, people don’t talk about it enough. But Hades is a god. He’s stronger than every other Disney person (except maybe the other gods) they could never lock up a god. Like he stays in the underworld, with his wife (a third of the year) he’s not even a villain 😭😭

I think when it comes to the eah and descendants fued nobody brings up that eah was released on october 2013, and while descendants was announced on december 2013 the concept dates back to 2012. So i dont think descendants was inspired by eah but monster high (released 2010) and retelling of fairytales became popular (once upon a time & tim burtons alice). So i think its 2 companies with the same idea at the same time.

Also, can we talk about the books? The "School of Secrets" books that supplemented the Wicked World series always struck me as so similar to Suzanne Selfors' EAH books!

So this is what I think what EAH whole thing was which is there's always multiple sides of the some story for instance there is the hero's point of view, the villain's point of view, the thighkick's point of view and the subjects of kingdoms point of views.

EAH was so much better, I’m still pissed at decendants for it getting EAH cancelled. It was so much higher quality, and the dolls were way better quality too
