I think this casting showed a double standard in fandom spaces. if it's a female character that's supposed to be super hot and fawned over, they'll never cast anything other than a supermodel baddie sex goddess. maybe they'll give her more personality qualities than what she had but she'll still look like a comic character come to life. at the same time, just a decently well looking guy can be cast as a character who's supposed to be super hot and fawned over. he's not ugly, don't get me wrong, but he's just a guy. girls complained for like a week he wasn't cute enough and everyone got mad at the girls and the conversation shifted away from it. Fanboys still say Alicia Silverstone was too fat to be Batgirl and that's acceptable in fandom. men can be allowed to be judged by their acting skills and how they interpret a character but women have to act well, interpret the character right, but also be desirable for men. nothing against him or his talent but I've been thinking about this since he was announced and the one week of controversy it had. maybe I'm the friend who's too woke tho idk
