@bayavoce: The moment you stop trying to fix your partner is the moment your relationship actually starts working. Here's what actually shifts everything: learning to see your partner's resistance as information, not defiance. The couples who last aren't the ones who never trigger each other. They're the ones who got curious about what lives underneath the trigger instead of trying to eliminate it. They learned that your partner's ""flaws"" are usually their survival strategies. Your nervous system wants safety, but your soul wants growth. The magic happens when you can hold both without making your partner responsible for either. #relationships #Love #growth

The key to staying in stage 1, or prolonging it, is to switch partners on a regular basis. Hope this helps ✌️

Stage three is my favorite so far. I’ve never made it here in any other relationship. We do sleep in separate rooms now though. Which is great for getting a full nights sleep.

I think something important to note is that these stages are not linear either. You can be working on stage 3 and sometimes slip back to stage 2. You can be on stage 1 throughout your relationship at different times. Progress isn’t a straight line and that’s the true effort of long term relationships.

Any tips on identifying when it is a "phase" vs being actually incompatible? I feel like some ppl would stay in relationships that dont work, hoping that one day they'll "get through" this time

Married 44 years. Never once disconnected. Spent 24/7 everyday. Dare i say still infatuated. An epic journey of risk and laughing.

For all those struggling in stage 2: I’m so sorry and I hope it gets better. What I’ve found is that framing my feelings as independent from his actions help. For example: stage 2: stop playing video games, it makes me feel unwanted. Stage 3: when you play video games, I feel unwanted. Could you help me deal with that feeling? Maybe we could do something after you’re done playing that focuses on me or play some games together for a bit?

According to this I’ve been stuck in stage 1 for seven years. Your stage two sounds wildly unhealthy and they probably shouldn’t be together.

Stuck on stage two with a Dismissive Avoidant. Despite what all the DA videos in tik tok say, she’s not evil. She’s not nearly as bad as some of these videos and comments make her sound. She’s trying! She’s going to therapy! I’m stuck though because there have been small instances that felt like betrayal. (She hasn’t cheated). I know relationships require radical forgiveness, but how do I continue to trust when I’m afraid of feeling betrayed again? (The betrayal seems to be me and her having different perspectives on a few things, and I need some repair to feel safe)
