Horrifying, but you’re handling this so well & glad you just up & left rather than collecting things. Because that is a health hazard - Aside from the cockroaches, there’s also likely mold from water damage & lead in the layers of the paint.

OMG I’m so sorry - document everything. Every inch of that bathroom, and even save a piece of debris to get tested later. You can also look up your building’s history of violations on HPDonline, in case you need some context when approaching your landlord.
