@tandkaythespectrumway: My wife ordered a vanilla dip from Tim Hortons but when she got the doughnut she wasn’t aware the sprinkle’s had changed. It was unexpected. Things that seem small depending on her day can really drain her battery. This was again posted with her permission. (Side note: @timhortons please only have one type of vanilla dip. Or call it something else) @Tim Hortons #tandkaythespectrumway #fyp #autismawareness #autistic #actuallyautistic #audhd #latediagnosedautistic #asd #autism #pda #timhortons #vanilladip

these comments are irritating me. fym “too old to be throwing a tantrum”. HELLO? SHE HAS A DISABILITY??? individuals with autism often struggle with change, it is not easy as it is for a neurotypical person. EDUCATE YOURSELVES PLEASE🙏

the comment section is absolutely disgusting. as a autistic adult myself there have been so many moments my husband has had to talk me through meltdowns over the simplest things. if you watch her the whole time she’s trying so hard to self regulate and people calling this a fit not understanding how difficult autism is and that it’s a freaking DISABILITY. shes doing so great and trying so hard!! and it’s so so brave that she’s willing to share this and make other people feel understood🤍🤍🤍

:/ I have autism... and idk if it's internalized ableism or what but this does feel very unreasonable. like when I get this way I want to overcome it, not ..🧐.. change my life in detrimental ways because I can't deal with minor inconveniences. how is not seeing your parents bc of a donut okay?? like that's a serious thing that u changed

Oh, buddy, do I ever know how you feel. As a fellow Autistic, i'm not ashamed to admit that I've absolutely had a meltdown over my favorite donuts being sold out when I had been looking forward to having them for days prior. And I couldn't accept any alternative. It had to be the donuts I wanted from my favorite shop or nothing. Digging deeper, it wasn't b/c I didn't get what I wanted, it was b/c all the built up exhaustion, stress, and overstimulation from the week leading up to it meant I needed a calming ritual activity to cope. Visiting my favorite donut shop for a maple bar and an iced vanilla latte was the regulating ritual I needed. When that option disappeared unexpectedly, it was the minor thing to push me over the edge. I hope you get your safe food back soon!💜

I want to thank you SO much for these videos. Seeing these emotions play out in the moment for another person makes me feel so much more “normal” and seen, and not alone. I cry because I wonder why I feel the way I do and everyone thinks I’m ridiculous. 47 and never diagnosed and just now realizing how blatant and loud my autism has always been. Thank you 🫶

Hey, I’m autistic and I worked at Tim Hortons. They can throw you a batch of donuts with the regular sprinkles really quickly. The donuts are precooked and frozen and they have an oven made specifically to heat them up fast. I would have been happy to help. It’s ok to ask for accommodations.
