@cockpitking: Airbus vs Boeing: Who Ditches Smarter? When it comes to a water landing, Airbus gives you one button. Boeing gives you a checklist. On the A320, the “DITCHING” switch instantly seals the outflow valves, packs, and avionics vents—locking the hull watertight in seconds. The 737, by contrast, demands step-by-step manual input under pressure—each valve and system closed separately, by memory. Automation or airmanship. One trusts code. One trusts the crew. If you’re going down in the ocean… which design would you rather rely on? #Airbus #Boeing #Ditching #WaterLanding #AviationSafety #AircraftDesign #PilotTraining #AvGeek #FlightDeckEngineering #EmergencyProcedures #A320 #737NG #AutomationVsManual #AirlinerTech #AviationExplained #AircraftSystems #CockpitDesign #FlightSafety #HumanFactors #FlyByWire #AircraftChecklists #SystemRedundancy #AircraftEmergencies #AirlineTech #PilotDecisions #FlightDeckLogic

It was an Airbus that capt. Sullenberger successfully ditched in the Hudson River - with zero casualties

And yet the Airbus in the Hudson flooded. Why was that I wonder?

In an emergency, reducing time and removing chances of human error is critical.. so why would anyone choose Boeing here 🙄

there's a checklist for Airbus too, it's not just a button, far from it. During the Hudson River incident the crew didn't have time to go through it, the aircraft stayed afloat for enough time nevertheless. A successful ditch was more important than a few more minutes afloat
