I have rheumatology next month waking up with stiff hands pain now from my thumb so I can use my left hand to pick up heavy things not even my pooch ive also had pain years in my back wondering if that maybe related I was once going to gym but now I cant just always in pain😔 x

I literally woke up one morning and thought I’d dislocated my shoulder in the night. Pain was horrendous. Nearly took the drs head off when he pressed on it. Took another six months with both shoulders and hands flaring before I had to sit in a&e for 7 hours and the dr just said you have RA. Although you get the diagnosis and the treatment. It’s an exhausting condition. I’m currently flaring in my hands and I’ve got a wedding on Saturday and my face looks like I’m sunburnt. Oh well. Face paint and ibuprofen gel.

Your account feels like it’s showing my thoughts in my head. I got diagnosed 2 years ago after 9 years of pain and no diagnosis. It’s a life sentence and it’s so hard. Thank you for this account ❤️💪🏻 xx

im 51 and have had this horrible condition now for about 15 years along with underactive thyroid. I miss the old me. I was a youth worker and a specialist teaching assistant but I got to a point where I could not do it anymore. now work from home and really struggling with mobility. I push myself to going swimming twice a week and try and watch what I it. I always feel nobody gets the pain and fatigue unless you experience it. Thank you for your posts as I now realise its not in my head xx

Thats how it started for me.....pain in my hands, swelling, and then not being able to lift my arms for days at a time.......and only at 25. It was the beginning to my end.

Oh I get it sweetie. At 40 I was superwoman running a global marketing business, raising 4 kids. Having a second youth with the hubs. Gym 5 times a week, out at weekends at clubs. Then one day my legs wouldn’t bend and pain was extremely tough. Diagnosis RA and Crohns! Became head on a pillow for 3 years. Missed so many important things with our youngest. Work life over! Thankfully Anti TNF’s in combination with Methotrexate became available and life went on. But never been the same since. I love your honesty and bravery sharing your journey with this life stealing condition that is still so misunderstood. Am 61 tomorrow and whilst retired early, with limits life is still good. Keep fighting xxxxxxx
