Located near the town of Ella, this iconic bridge was constructed during the British colonial era and it’s now a popular attraction, with tourists flocking to witness the scenic beauty and marvel at the engineering wonder that has stood the test of time. 👌 To help you have the best time ever we’ve put together few tips with everything you need to know before visiting the Nine Arch Bridge: 📍 WHERE: Nine Arch Bridge, Ella Town ⏰ TRAIN TIMES: 6:30, 9:30, 11:30, 15:30, 16:30, 17:30 (however, the Sri Lankan train network is notoriously unreliable - so allocate some extra time on either side. We arrived at 9:15 and the train was there at 9:20) ☀️ BEST TIME TO VISIT: Before 9am for the best views without crowds (by about 7 am the crowds are already starting to gather, and by the time 10 am rolls around, the masses have well and truly descended lol) 🛺 HOW TO GET THERE: Walk from Ella town (20 minutes) or get a tuk-tuk to Nine Arch Bridge parking (2 USD) 👀 BEST VIEWPOINT: The Asanka Cafe, bridge itself, or tea plantation below the bridge 🚁 DRONE USE: in theory, drones are not allowed here anymore. There is police around the bridge and you might get in trouble. WHY? HORNET NESTS! 🐝 🐝 There’s plenty of them in the arches and they do feel threatened by the sound of drone.
