@vivecachow: First dance class in 6 years. Body feeling awkward? Absolutely. Made a commitment to myself to take up space and “be as big as possible” for the class? Heck yes. Dancing was always my weakest out of the 3 skills in musical theatre (singing, acting, dancing). I never truly felt comfortable and made myself smaller and smaller, until I just stopped doing it. Tonight, I promised to unleash the most theatre kid version of me there ever was. And it felt incredible. Because it wasn’t dance I felt uncomfortable with, it was comparison and judgment with those who I once auditioned with. I felt over the top, it felt very uncomfortable, but I did it for me. Growth happens when you push your boundaries. Also, @Megan Bowen’s class was an incredible space for anyone who wants to reclaim that confidence in dance. It’s never too late 💞
