Stop the nonsense. If I know u weren’t in the area, I’m not asking if ur okay. Grow up.

I don’t work in sales, I work in education in NYC and this goes for anyone who lives and works in NYC. it’s nice for people to check in and see how we’re doing. You never know how connected someone is to this kind of situation and to know someone cares enough to ask is so meaningful. We’re a strong and big city that never sleeps but sometimes it’s hard to carry it all

Yes! Ahead of hurricanes etc I always call my clients and ask what I can take off their plate so they can focus on the safety of their team. Provide examples ie can I handle your help desk tickets (related to my product) over the next 48 hours so you all can focus on staying safe!

I work in EdTech sales and knowing about any type of weather related disasters or other traumatic events is KEY when contacting educators and districts. This needs to be talked about more in sales trainings.

I would only call existing clients or warmer leads you’ve already connected with/pitched. Cold leads you’ve never spoken to, this would feel really weird and manipulative.

Love this. Long term relationships in sales and retention start with trust and empathy.

Agreed. I live in Florida in a call center When tragedies happen, and I talk to someone from that area, they are always so appreciative of a simple, “how are you?” Kindness goes so far

Sept 11 too. I sold nyc/nj for a while and some of my older coworkers were stranded in Manhattan and walked home that day and lost friends. We always took it easy that day even 20+ years later because it was so hard for them.

An important question is how are you doing?

Dear Stacey :
yes - exactly! one time a major flood happened close to my territory of accounts at the time. I called them just to say I was thinking of them and hope they and their loved ones were safe. nothing else other than an outreach of geniune care and concern.

Literally emailed a couple clients today based in NYC to just say hi and let them know that I’m here. Today wasn’t about sales, it was about being a human

This is also true for the buyer as well. I’m a buyer for a group and whenever something devasting happens near a location I frequently purchase from I reach out and let them know I’m thinking of them and hope they’re safe.

I had a director that pushed selling in a flooded destroyed area of US, even though we could call anywhere in the country. Ihe has zero empathy, glad I left

I fully skipped calling on anyone within the companies who worked in that building. No way I was calling them
