Who Needs a Museum? Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda 2025 Was a Walking Tour of Rome’s Greatest Art & Architecture. Dolce & Gabbana hosted a show that resurrected the Roman Empire, one gown at a time. Set in the heart of the Roman Forum at dusk, their 2025 Alta Moda show transformed Via Sacra into a gilded runway of myth, marble, and magnificence. References to Rome’s cultural legacy: – A sequinned skirt shimmered with the Capitoline Wolf, Rome’s iconic symbol. – A sculpted velvet gown echoed the Pantheon by Agrippa, its symmetry and solemn grandeur mirrored in gold architecture-like pleats. – Flowing chiffon stolae recalled the Goddess Vesta, guardian of home and hearth. – A sheer cape of watery blues rippled like the Trevi Fountain, with crystal droplets cascading down. – Bust and coin embroideries referenced ancient Roman currency. – Gowns inspired by 19th-century paintings — like Juan Jimenez Martin’s “A Roman Lady at Her Dressing Table” or Thomas Couture’s “The Romans in Their Decadence” — were reinterpreted in mille-feuille chiffon and glowing brocade. – Theatrical drama came via “A Capriccio of the Roman Forum” by Panini, with layered silhouettes evoking its surreal, imaginary Rome. – Even Fellini’s flair was alive in the crowd of Vestal Virgins and Cleopatra-esque divas. “People want the energy,” said Dolce after the show — and that’s exactly what they delivered: ancient ruins reawakened through couture. - Chi ha bisogno di un museo? Ambientato nel cuore del Foro Romano al tramonto, lo show ha trasformato la Via Sacra in una passerella dorata di mito, marmo e magnificenza.
