@bequietallie: #childcare #birthratedecline #corporate not to mention, we’re never gonna get maternity leave, but women would be more willing to reenter the workforce if they had near-constant access to their babies.

In WA a daycare teacher has to have a specific level of training. They have to take a certain ammount of classes each year. No company would want to spent the $ or responsibility to have a classroom "legal" to have a daycare.

Nah that makes too much sense to ever be an actual thing.

Was a bigger push for this kind of thing in the 90s but did not flourish. Not gonna happen because they want you at home.

They are currently in the process of changing the definition of what it means to be an employee. So they don't have to pay the current benfits as defined by the law or give the same legal protections. Due to the previous election, this is unlikely to happen anytime soon. Im sorry.

Because republicans would rather put the kids to work over having to help others with their taxes

Just from financial perspective the liability alone on daycare is really high. I am assuming you don’t want your kid indoors eight hours or more. So that means they also need an outdoor space for them with a playground. Little kids need a nap. Babies have to have a schedule. Versus older kids. So let’s say one employee has a newborn and another one has a four year-old you can’t put them in the same room. Because you need a crib, you need a cot you need schedule time feedings, and naps. My job does have a fully standalone daycare. Then again we employ hundreds of employees, but the waitlist to get into that daycare is two years.
