this whole situation has shown us how the EU really needs to cut ties with the US in alot of ways. They've got too much influence on European matters

Its Way to much energy. Us already promised 60% of yearly cap to Japan. And now 100% og yearly cap to EU. Still got India, South Korea and the rest of the World to make deals with. So that wont happen. The deal could be 1000 Trillion, still would not Get it

the spending isnt actually an enforceable part of the deal and it's provate companies. they're counting investments already made and investments that make logical sense as the EU needs an energy alternative to Russia

The deal isn’t as bad as ppl think it takes time to take effect, the US doesn’t even have that much energy to sell . They are just buying time

700 billion energy imports was already agreed with Biden admin. Trump just pull that number and made it his. 15% tariffs only hurts American consumers. We export more than we import from US. 600 billion invest by 2028 theirs no details on what. It could be gurantee loan or credit from EU banks or NATO military invest which we things is going to happen anyway with or without deals. It’s all for show. And we can always renegotiate after he leaves office.

You should redo this video after reading the EU Commissions statement on this "deal".
We won these negotiations and are taking Trump for a walk.

I'm pretty sure the negotiations will just drag out on time until a new US president is voted in since nothing is actually signed yet. Stroking his ego to get him off EU's back.

I think the EU tried to buy time. Also, the deal, bad as it is, ties the US to Europe. If Trump want to get those 1.2 trillions for weapons, energy and investments, Nato needs to stay in place and so do American bases and safety guarantees. In the meantime, the EU can do what it does best: prepare for the long term.

Trump is wasting all his political capital with leaders on these deals and pushing European allies away. The long term consequences of him will cause us so many headaches

If the US wants an economic war with the EU then so be it. I wonder what would happen to the US if the EU dedollarized. If Trump thinks he is the master of the world, he must learn that even with all the weaponry he has, the United States is isolated from the rest of the world by 2 oceans without a European ally.

you know taking a bad deal only works if trump backs off but if we never stops making demands and never stops taking is it better than a trade war because if the eu says no trumps tariffs are coming anyway

Its not a deal there is no deal yet. The only thing agreed is the framework for the negotiations on a deal.

USA has sold more gas what it produces if you but Japan and EU deals together. basically EU should stop buying from other countries gas. It's very confusing how it's going to work.

Also, a lot of this deal just isn’t going to happen. The US doesn’t have the capacity to expand its energy production to meet the deal, and there’s nothing obligating EU businesses to provide investment in the US.

Yeah I also at first reacted to the news with disappointment. But the other options would have been either absorb the 30% tariff not retaliate which would show weakness to others in terms of not doing retaliatory tariffs. The other option would have been a trade war which would cause more damage to both sides probably. The deal gives the eu a known economic impact though not good. Obv there would always be the chance that taco happens but it’s not a risk worth taking
