Had a classmate had a baby and was told that she had to be there in person for her exam or take a zero… she AMA’d out of the hospital 24 hrs post delivery. Took her final and went back to the hospital… makes zero sense!

When my dad died I had one week off from school and I had to take an exam and dosage calculation exam the same day I came back. I had to provide my dad’s hospice and death certificate to the school and the clinical director before they even approved my time off. After I would be crying in class but not get up because I was afraid of missing something. I graduated, but absolutely none of it was easy.

I failed out of nursing the first time around because I had to take my sister to the ER the morning of our final (she was in the same program and class as me) and she had to have emergency surgery and they made me take the final that day and of course I failed so we both got kicked out because she failed her exam too when they let her take it a week later. We went to another school after and both graduated but these schools don’t give af what you got going on

Also nursing school, they hold you to a higher standard, before the semester started I had to take a med administration exam that I could only get 2 answers wrong on, fail it and I was removed from my semester classes, and to get an A in the class had to be a 94% or above

Many nursing schools do offer a second chance. But I think a line has to be drawn somewhere. Can’t have someone failing a class 3 or 4 times….then becoming a nurse????

My intro to nursing school class I didn’t know how to study at the beginning and I was not doing well on the test then I learned and started getting 90 and above and I could only miss 6 points on the final to pass and get into nursing school. I only missed 5

my mil passed and I was only allowed to take 2 days off. and had to make them up on the weekend with my instructor at the hospital doing 12hr shifts 😫
