Im so sure that Kris was there when Dess went missing but they never told anyone else what they saw (Asgore might've also seen something considering his removal from the police force and the fact hes snooping in the Holidays house)

I'm guessing it has something to do with how they ended up in a monster town. Kris is shown to be uncomfortable with anything relating to other humans, so they were probably traumatised by humans.

I like to hate to imagine that dess died by the tree or something scary happened with her and the tree. Leavubg a young Kris to run away, leaving dess to either die or get lost. This is why I think Kris had to go to art therapy personally

i mean its pretty obvious what happened with the tree. kris azzy noelle and dess went into the forest, very deep, maybr out of bound of the map, they "followed the tail" followed the devil=gaster, and simehow dess got lost and dissapear. basically Kris saw the devil
