First of all, Lulu is such a beautiful little angel! 🤍 Hope this can help for anyone interested in a dachshund — I’m no professional, but this is everything I’ve learned as a dachshund owner through research and working with Teenie: Harnesses only for walks, collars for leash training. Ramps everywhere, joint supplements early on, and please don’t shave long-haired doxies — just trim, they need their undercoat! Crate training helped potty train her in a week with barely any accidents. They’re super food motivated, so positive reinforcement really works. I always end training on a good note before she gets bored so she’s excited for next time. I keep sessions short (10–15 min max), mix up everything she’s learned, and use her meals as a jackpot reward at the end. Also, socializing them early with people, dogs, sounds, and surfaces makes a huge difference in their confidence later on!⭐️

As someone who has had a dachshund for 14 years, 10 of the years with IVDD, DO NOT GET A DACHSHUND, ethically they should not be bred anymore, it’s absolutely heartbreaking and dibilitating

For boys it is recommended to not neuter them until at least a year to avoid ivdd! Boys also mark EVERYWHERE be prepared 🥵 also HEAVY on the stubborn, but soooo lovey!! ❤️
