Come to think of it, I've been on TV as an expert a bunch of times and none of them ever asked for proof of my qualifications. What a waste of £110k of student loans :( Could have just made it up and made a think tank.

I work in think tank world. I don’t know anything about this guy but it’s quite common for small think tanks to just be or two people who set up a private company and call it a think tank. Some of those are still really good and publish high quality research! But this is why it’s so important to do your own research - I like to check whether the think tank is a charity (lots are) and whether they declare where their funding comes from
