@wujikitty: Spot was suddenly unable to walk about 8 months ago. Our sweet boy, who’s been with us since 2018 after someone dumped him on our lawn, went from active and playful to completely unable to move without help. He had to be carried, wiped down, and comforted as he lay on soft pads and underwent exams, X-rays, and weeks of pain, numbness, and uncertainty. The diagnosis: spondylosis, a degenerative spinal condition caused by natural aging. It was severe enough to cause him to lose his ability to walk due to nerve compression. He may have had an injury in the past, but he was 3-5 when we rescued him, so we don’t know his full history. His condition was not curable — but with time, medication, therapy, and lots of love, Spot started to heal. Now, Spot can walk again. His gait is a little wonky, but his spirit is just as strong as ever. He can even tackle the stairs (though he happily accepts a lift from the butlers when needed 😸). Cat mom relates to his curved, Halloween Cat look when he walks carefully across the floor. Having had back surgery, she knows how it feels! In this video, Spot enjoys his wipe-down and brushing routine, since he can’t clean himself well. Hie effort is rewarded with yummy Delectables, also enjoyed by the crew.
