Well ya see the reason people might say Tommy’s evil is because the actor himself Andrew Bryniarski said this leatherface (Tommy) likes to kill he gets joy from it he likes the feeling of revenge unlike the original 1974 leatherface where he was scared of his family and only killing out of fear so it’s a mix of bad circumstances and Charlie being the main villain Turing Tommy into the unstoppable monster he is

To me it was because he trying to protect his family in the first movie, but around the 2006-2003 versions Hoyt mostly taught him like (manipulated) Thomas into killing I might be a lil mistaken but that's my thoughts on it[weep]

I don't necessarily think either of them are evil, but Thomas was a more willing participant in my opinion. his family is considerably less abusive to him than Bubbas. he's also much smarter. think Forrest Gump as opposed to a toddler. I don't think anyone's really making him do it. he's probably not actively enjoying it and seeking to do those types of things, but they are things he wants to do. he does them to protect his family and make sure that they're well fed.
