My mom also told me not to braid and I also don’t like it but growing up and playing more of basketball I had a change of thought to start braiding atleast once in a while and I made her understand that beading my hair doesn’t define my character or who I am and she understood. Talk to her first and then if she insist on you not braiding do what she wants.
