But it all connects right? A majority of people don’t prioritize or respect education. So many families are against teachers. Adults don’t want to help, contribute or do any work outside of school hours.

My 3rd grader is at 7th grade reading level and my 5th grader can’t test anymore past his 8th grade level 😁 and they are iPad kiddos too, all in moderation!

They don’t wanna read to their child, make sure they child did their homework, do the homework with their child let alone spend 5 bucks on the child’s classroom. They doing the bare minimum half the time

We need to start looking at how big business is siphoning money off of public education by selling us big box curriculum, standardized testing, and PD that is a waste of taxpayer dollars. That money should be given back to the classrooms so that we can hire more teachers, paras, supplies, and wraparound services.

As a teacher and a parent we are so exhausted. It’s so hard to parent the way I want while working but I don’t have a choice I have to work and I prioritize education but it’s still so so hard and I know my kid is behind

I think it’s several issues, like Covid definitely did have developmental & educational impacts and people wanna deny it but these kids were in very fundamental school years during covid!!

We have this one school district in our area teachers flock to. It’s a rich district but it’s more of a “grass is greener” district. After Covid you could see the test scores bomb. And then this “destination” district started offering financial incentives to work for them. With as unstable as staffing is, I can see how test scores are in the toilet.

When parents and other adults in a child's life don't value education, the children believe it is not important and there is nothing that a teacher can do in the classroom to change that.
