The context of this answer was he was asked if he forced the team to draft Sanders. There was a belief based on the energy in the room at the time of the pick, that Haslam forced the pick. He stated it was completely the decision of Berry and he was involved. The Friday night comment was in regard to the belief that Sanders wasn’t going to still be there.

His point was, on Friday night, after just picking the 4th qb on the payroll, he would be taken aback by the idea of taking ANOTHER QB. Once people who handle this stuff, not him, got together, they recognized there was just too much value to pass up, despite there already being 4 QBs on the team. YOU read it the wrong way.
