This time last year, we were counting down the days and so excited to welcome our two exchange girls. It felt like something special was ahead—and it was. We shared some beautiful months together, created memories, and poured a lot of love into the experience. But then, life shifted. Their plans and ours didn’t line up the way we thought they would. And even though it was hard, we made sure they still got the best out of their journey here. I didn’t understand why it happened the way it did. Honestly, I had some pretty serious talks with God because it didn’t feel fair. It didn’t match the vision we had, the prayers we thought were being answered. But God… He already knew. He was making space in our home, and in our hearts, for something else. In January, we realized exactly why things unfolded the way they did—because that room? That space? It was always meant for my sweet niece. We may not always understand the detours, but they are never wasted. God’s plans don’t always make sense in the moment, but looking back… you start to see how it all fits. He knew what was coming, and He prepared us for it even when we didn’t know we needed it. And I’m just so thankful He did.
