yeah my desktop does that everytime it boots up, and its all because when i upgraded to win 11 it didnt wipe win 10 off, and now its showing i have 2 win 11 installs, but i need to upgrade storage so that will fix it

You could run Linux off a usb drive if you don't want to dedicate a disk or partition to it. Good way to try it at no risk and also try out different distros. We used to boot Linux off a CD... though I wouldn't recommend it nowadays. Have fun!

I’m not an expert, but in my experience testing out the new operating system in a virtual machine before is helpful. Try out virtual box you can work out whatever distribution suits you and duel boot

Its alot of work and its annoying imo. I try to dual boot with my macbook and add windows. Did the same with my steam deck to have windows and it was miserable

If you want to try Linux don‘t make the mistake of just picking the most known one. There are 2 things you need to choose before choosing a actual distribution (Linux version). 1. the desktop environment. This is the look of your linux. As a starter choose between gnome or kde plasma. 2. the release model. There are lts, stable, bleeding edge and rolling distros. Decide what suits you best and choose a distro listed on the desktop environments website with your chosen release model

Use a Virtual Machine if you’re looking to try Linux. It’s way easier and less of a mess thm duel booting. Use something like VirtualBox you can create VMs and delete them easily without messing with your system. Duel booting is great if you need the full system though. But trust me look into using VMs

My motherboard has two M.2 slots but I'm only using one and thats where I have windows installed. I've been kicking around the idea if dropping in another M.2 drive and installing Kali there. I'm learning linux for cyber security.
