I live in Auburn and Birmingham is the same as Atlanta. it's the city itself and all the suburbs. like the airport isn't in Atlanta proper but it's in Atlanta.

I’m from irondale. Birmingham is easier. The surrounding places are technically “the greater Birmingham area”. Whatever. Also I don’t hear of a greater Montgomery area. So it’s all Birmingham unless I have to be specific

I grew up in edge of Tuscaloosa/Jefferson county. In my mind, any town in Jefferson is Birmingham… Hoover, Bessemer, Irondale, Vestavia, Hueytown, Gardendale all = Birmingham.

OK, Gardendale, Fultondale, Warrior… etc they’re definitely not Birmingham and nowhere near it. I grew up in Blount County and move to Gardendale when I was 13. I personally would not wanna be associated with Birmingham since it is one of those violent cities to live in.
