fridges like this have been made to open both ways (just swap hing and in older fridge the handle) for the last 50 years. how do people not know this. also when they are delivered and set up the door has to be mounted, the will typically ask which way you want it.

so this was a teaching moment and critical thinking time. should tell her that doors are double sided so at the time of installation you can change which direction the fridge will open. I get that its funny but I really wish more parents would explain more to give kids critical thinking skills instead of easy answers
