Yes- we were on the beach on the big island when we got a tsunami warning. My husband was snorkeling and said the water was crystal clear then all of the sudden it got very cloudy and swirling. We sat on the dock watching the water go out….. then rush in higher. We were kind of stranded since our cruise ship was way out and the little boats didnt run again until the warnings were over. The locals ran out with their surfboards lol

The tsunami is not from a storm. It’s from an earthquake. So yes, it would be a beautiful clear day, and and the water may be calm, but water can change quickly and powerfully. Heed warnings.

It’s not technically supposed to hit Hawaiian islands until around 7:15 PM. Only going to be 5:00 PM for you But because people panic it’s best to get to higher ground ASAP and not be in a panicked rush. Has nothing to do with it being a sunny day it’s the earthquake that generated the tsunami. I lived on Oahu 4 years. We had a 6.9 earthquake, tsunami warning, etc.. We were all fine, but best to be safe. Prayers for all.❤️🙏🏻
