The entire time James keep saying “It’s been 3 years since Mary died”, when in fact it’s only been 3 weeks shows that he’s really in denial of his wife death. The letter is actually blank too, there was no letter all of it was just James denial and desire to see her again

it's not because the monsters are afraid of james after learning the truth. it's because after learning the truth the monsters lose their purpose which was to punish james, to push him to remember what he has done. and now he does, they're weakened.

I always looked at each monster conveying different things after the truth is revealed. Lying figure is curled up from the shame and guilt from what James did, the Nurse dying as he no longer needs anyone to punish him anymore, and the fear that Mary or even James felt when confronted.

I’ve always been confused about the lore of silent hill. Like in the first and third game the town was under attack from a cult. But in 2 the town is alive and summons traumatized to people to either help or kill them.
