these comments show how little people know about how tsunamis work. the first wave is usually very deceptive and not as noticeable that there's anything wrong. that's why tsunami can be so scary, the waves compound over time and can hit much harder hours after the first stages of activity. plus, a few feet doesn't seem like much but keep in mind only 10ft waves can cause huge devastation and damage

People are forgetting the speed these waves travel at and they pick up debris as they move so if you get hit by one of these waves which you probably can’t outrun you’ll probably die or be severely injured
