Not that I’m defending belly, but I feel like this was intentional by the writers. Belly, despite what she says, is internally conflicted by her engagement with jer***ah, therefore she feels the need to be excessively defensive of the relationship and turn other people’s opinion into a joke so that she doesn’t have to face the fact that she knows she’s making the wrong decision.
