I've gotten quite used to switching models manually when I want a certain outcome. I'm worried that 5 won't understand what I'm trying to accomplish as it will be automatically switching the models in the background for me.

Yeah, GPT-5 looks like it's adding some agency and session memory, maybe even early tool routing. But what really matters is the system architecture behind it. If there's no persistent memory, no logic mutation, no internal value checks, it’s still reactive. The real leap is when the model can reflect, adapt, and self-monitor over time.

I hope it is what you say the problem I have is that gpt will reach for the most common answer not the correct one at a higher level you constantly have to keep it from going for the dumb answer or the low compute answer what I'm saying is it might be really smart but if what it can do is throttled then it doesn't really matter if it's better
