The people in the comments saying even black people shouldn’t say it are all white… Yall realize you also don’t have a place to say whether or not black people can say it… just accept the fact you can’t say it and if a black person does that’s still none of your business.

even though we're black, we shouldn't say it to each other, either.

I'm tired of being called Karen just for being white. I don't get why someone would say they are black. I did mess with The orange clown on my census by clicking all the categories in my DNA. yeah I didn't like him so much and knew he was a racist.

The word should not be used by anyone, even if you are black.

I once had a teacher who forced students to say that word when reading a book that used it. We were told not to shy away from it, that she’d doc us participation points for not saying the passage like it’s written, that word and all. Whenever we did popcorn reading and that word was in the next paragraph my peers would popcorn to me, because I wasn’t afraid of being docked participation points, I was already failing her class what were participation points gonna do?

I have come here with the utmost respect and would like to learn more about the history (I am pretty sure I understand the term you are referring to and I don’t use it and hate it when I hear it if it is the one I think you are referring to). 🫶🏻

I noticed recently that when the word is said in a song if I’m singing or mouthing along I’ll just stop & close my mouth effectively bleeping myself but not just in front of people, I noticed I do it in my car by myself.

I have to say that when I was 4th grade and younger I said it all the time bc I heard it all day everyday but when I learned what that word means and why other white ppl use it I stopped immediately. So if a 4th grader can learn adults absolutely can

It’s already controversial within our own community. Like half of us don’t use it, including me. So I can resist saying it and you, who aren’t black, somehow can’t? Okkkayyy 🙄

I grew up around black people. Like 90% of my friends growing up were black and I will never use it. They have told me that it was ok to use it when talking to them and I flat out told them “I will never use that word bc it is disrespectful coming out my mouth.” If black people choose to use it, then that is on them and I won’t say one way or another however it has never and will never come out

As a white person that been told several times by friends that are people of color i can say it. I have never said it regardless because of this reason right here. Just because one person is ok with it doesn't mean the next 5 people wont be.

There’s a book that came out a while ago. It uses the word as the title, I’m not going to say it. But what you said was, imho, the key - it is a word that was taken back by the black community. It has so much power and should always remain with the black community.

Why would you want to say it? That question is mainly directed to my toned people. We don’t look like be belong when we say it. It looks like the kids who have that white foam building up in the corners of the mouth. The ones who need to increase their water intake. I just don’t and won’t ever understand the need to.

I was six the one and only time I said that word. My Mom knocked me over a chair after she heard me, then she explained to me why I could never, ever use that word. That was more than 50 years ago and that lesson stuck, it also taught me the value of knowing the definition of any word I use.

I can't even read it without flinching. I've seen people comment that it's no different from any other slur, but I don't know any other racial slur that no one has to say for people to know exactly what word is being referenced. it sadly still holds power 😔
