Hồ Chí Minh and General Võ Nguyên Giáp should be studied everywhere as a model of how to fight the colonizer with unshakable determination. I admire them deeply.
At Điện Biên Phủ in 1954, the Northern Vietnamese achieved a world‑shaking victory over the French without fighter jets, helicopters, or advanced technology. What they did have was something stronger: patience, discipline, organization, and tireless effort. They hauled heavy artillery through jungles and mountains, dug fortifications by hand, and mobilized the energy of an entire people. That victory not only ended French colonial rule in Indochina but also sent a message to all oppressed nations: empire can be defeated.
And they did not stop there. For twenty years, under the military genius of General Giáp and the leadership of Hồ Chí Minh, Vietnam resisted the most powerful military machine in the world — the United States. Once again, determination and unity outlasted firepower and wealth.
This is why Hồ Chí Minh and Giáp remain towering examples of anti‑colonial struggle. They showed that victory is not about weapons alone, but about organization, patience, collective sacrifice, and a belief in freedom so strong it cannot be crushed.
