Plant more trees, biodiversity, water, natural ecosystems are necessity’s for all life, and solar panels on parking lots.

Ok yes but can we still cover our parking lots with a roof of solar panels?

Start with the parking lots. Open land is beautiful to behold. People need to push them to have solar incentives for the rooftops and parking lot owners. Starting to cover the parking lots provides all of the benefits in their areas too.

I'm my area the energy company just bought up an ENTIRE massive farm to rip everything up and place solar panels, the energy isn't coming to our area or lowering our rates in fact energy costs just jumped AGAIN to cover the costs of install, now we just found out the energy isn't even go our area but will be sent across the state and country for larger cities

they aren't using farm land for solar around me, they're cutting down forests. One cut 300 acres of forest down for a solar farm just down the road from my hometown

And schools! Any new business/building/school that was built in the last 20 years should’ve had solar panels built in

im wondering how farms are harvesting under them? are they able to put them high enough up that they can use equipment under them or would it all have to be hand harvested crops?

only issue with solar panels is that they generate the most in summer when the sun is out 24/7 and ..not as much in winter with polar nights, so they generate the most when we need the least amount of electricity and very little when we don't need it as much.

That’s great to see, in Portugal there has been an increase in solar farms, hope it turns into this. Unfortunately there has also been some poor thinking, some solar farms here were built in hill zones and don’t have vegetation (currently) so when it rains hard or for extended periods, there’s an higher chance of landslides and rural areas that surround it become inaccessible ☹️Policies also make it less of a benefit, we produce a lot of renewable energy but sell to other countries and purchase from others ‘cause theirs is cheaper than ours apparently. Definitely not great overall, but thank you for showing that there is potential for a good use of these farms besides energy production. 😊

Why can’t we also install them in large sprawling car parks e.g. airports and retail parks? It could have the benefit of shading cars and footpaths

It’s great until it goes the wrong way like in Spain where olive trees are being cut down to build solar farms, trees that take 60 years to produce, against farmers will

Instead of solar. Nuclear. The only time solar is better is if we are able to put solar panels in space and then transfer it to the earth. While yes we can and still have solar panels on the ground it isn’t the best way to sustain our lives.

Isnt there an issue of too many solar panels contributing to an increase of heat? I’m not saying they’re bad but i do think we ought to rely on multiple forms of alternative energy generators

Solar panels also drip heavy metals into the earth, which is definitely not good for the environment/any future agriculture there

Yea another excuse to justify it. Oul companies can show similar studies to show how offshore platforms help fish and many other things.

solar panels rely on lithium mining for their existence, no matter how you spin it solar farming & panels are NOT sustainable and actually ruin ecosystems

They leach toxins into the ground making the land unusable for anything else. so destroying land to save a few bucks. Nope we are still charged full price for electricity. those edible animals will be full of the toxins from grazing. educate yourself. nothing green about destroying green fertile land.

that would be Nice except when forest is cleared, or burned to convert to this type of business, or fertile agricultural soil being used this way when they could be out to better use producing food... greenwashing is so severe in alot of these scenarios unfortunately...
