If I recall correctly about 90 percent of guns used in crimes in nyc are registered or originated from red states, and that 14 of the 15 cities with the highest gun death rates are either in or border a red state (13 are in red states with Chicago being wedged between 2 red states, Oakland was the only blue state city)
