I will NEVER forget sitting in that sold out theater after Infinity Wars was over, in complete silence after the lights came up and nobody moved. That was the best L we ever took. 😂 It brought us together in trauma. Then I went home to watch the finale of GOT. I was a wreck that weekend. 😂

Thank you! I really wanted them to lose and have to leave the planet to save Franklin. It makes them flawed.

THISSSS. Phases 1-3 were great at showed real stakes and real sacrifice, even if they “won” eg. ~I had a date~ in Captain America. This is why No Way Home felt like the last really impactful ending. If they beat a monumental threat, it should be at great sacrifice.

Is there a movie besides infinity war that shows heroes losing?

I thought superhero movies were also about heroes saving the day. Every film can’t have Infinity War/Endgame stakes and frankly I don’t want them to.

You’re so right. the reason I love all the Thor scenes in IW is because he lost SO MUCH throughout his run. And then he lost again… I was baffled

kang losing the way he did made no sense imo i hated it
he seemed all powerful then seemed so vulnerable in that movie
i agree the high we've been chasing is stakes! and wakanda forever was the closest to that w the queen... and i want to c the aftermath of that truce with the talokans

spoiler i suppose in a way? but i honestly assumed they’d lose. i assumed galactus would devour them and that’s how they’d all end up in the main universe. i presumed they’d lose!!!! them going up against galactus and winning in their first film.. bad choice

the problem with a character like reed Richards is the fact that he's canonically the smartest guy in the multiverse. so nothing is gonna really feel like a threat as long as he's alive somewhere

i REALLY thought galactus was gonna eat the earth and the F4 ship was like their arc to the main MCU and that Doom-through his own genius- followed them and then doomsday/Dr Doom would b a consequence of the F4 failing and then abandoning their own earth. now im just wondering why the hell doom/f4 would leave their own earth for a different (WORSE) version????

Sushi Roll :
The multiverse is a huge problem in and of itself. With infinite possibilities even when they lose its possible to undo it and death doesn’t mean we won’t see a character again 🙄 stakes are gone. The closest we’ve gotten to a “loss” is Carol losing Monica in the multiverse at the end of The Marvels but even that is obviously not permanent.

they beat galactus way too easily. i feel like he should've won or they should've let johnny sacrifice himself. that way they could venture out into the universe to find him considering the thunderbolts post credits

Wack Thought :
I think part of the issue is that they don't even take Ls in the process of winning. Iron Man would not be if a guy that grew to be his friend didn't sacrifice himself in that cave, and that his mentor didn't turn to villainy. The Avengers wouldn't have been named Avengers without the loss of Agent Colson. Thor took Ls in every single movie, losing his power, mother, father, and home. Rogers lost people repeatedly. The recent films I've seen from them are less dynamic to me because there are no setbacks and nothing of lasting consequence happens. Threats are empty when it's clear MCU doesn't want to follow through.

I would’ve forgiven the lack of character arcs on screen if Doom showed up at the end and pulled a Syndrome (successfully)

Exactly, I thought for sure the point in having the Fantastic 4 in a completely different universe was because it was going to be destroyed by Galactus (the new big bad threat) by the end of the film. At this point, there’s still no real direction/cohesiveness, as with Phase 5.
