@tornadotitans: Incredibly powerful/active lightning barrages often precede tornado formation, and it can be quite harrowing if you happen to be downstream of a developing twister with lightning striking around you constantly at football field lengths away. I'll never forget this time near Memphis, TX as we watched this cell ramp up in the low-levels then suddenly a burst of lightning occurred and then a massive tornado. It was a wild experience.
