Why did I have the same experience (I’m vegan) with a man who told me he’s plant based and loves home cooking but can’t eat nuts, seeds, and most veggies 😳 SIR!!! What?!?

First this is hilarious. At least your internal conversation is. But this is a perfect illustration of my argument arguing against alignment as the goal in a relationship/marriage. The buzz word of the day is alignment but alignment isn’t agreement. What makes relationships work or fall apart are the same thing. Shared values or Values not shares. If you’re not in agreement at the core it won’t work. If you are it will work. The air fryer and seasoning price is crazy!!!Are you sure he’s one of us?😂😂😂

It’s a simple comparison. You will cook his simple salt and pepper meal for him and you cook your creole style meal for yourself. His background/taste buds are different than yours. This is not a deal breaker especially if you align on all the major areas.

My brother loves to cook gourmet meals. His wife eats the same 5 basic foods (chicken, hot dogs, Mac & cheese, maybe some broccoli…) and so do his kids. He makes the gourmet stuff for himself and the basic food for the others because it’s not about what he likes for their food tastes. 15 years married.

I think the question is, does he genuinely not like all of the extra love that goes into cooking delicious food? or does he just not care but will eat it and appreciate it all the same?

Some things are just dealbreakers and I think that’s ok. For me this would be one of them. I enjoy cooking and I want to share the meals I create with my partner without having to worry about them turning their nose up at every little thing. Take them childish ssa tastebuds on somewhere else 😒

Is salt & pepper to taste going to make cooking a negative experience for you, if you are making a separate meal for him?

Don’t make it about you. That’s his love language: dab a little salt and pepper and keep it moving. I’m sure If you fix yours that way and he tastes yours he can ask for that.

Palettes can grow and change. Give him some of that black rice and watch his brain rewire itself
