I used to get iron injections through the syringe method too. My nurse would push very slowly like 1ml per every minute. That helped it not hurt so much.

I also have iron infusion, done 4 or 6 months. I was stuck to a machine for 2 hours almost like dialysis. And then poke in my arms to find that correct vain

I get injections for it but I choose to do it at home 🤪 so it hasn't no taste 👍 but my numbers are always low and till now it is low but OK. they say

Exactly! My hemoglobin dropped down to 7.1 and I go every two weeks to get a shot to bring it back up for those that don’t know you cannot have blood transfusions when on dialysis. I also have fluctuating days energy, hunger, envision fluctuates daily. I go in August 14 for my PD access surgery. Thank you for sharing your journey with us who are new to this and have so many questions..

They will give me iron injections every now and then. To me they put a taste in my mouth of maple syrup.

I am also a PD patient on the cycler. In September, I will have 2 yrs with dialysis. They give me iron through the syringe in DaVita. I also have the mercera shot. I truly value and appreciate all your knowledge and experiences. Right now, I am dealing with low hemoglobin and it is so hard. I am also dealing with low carbon dioxide so it gets tougher. However, hearing yours and everyone's experience brings me comfort. My range on hemoglobin used to be 12 and now it dropped to 10 and as of yesterday is 8.7. Any how, I wish all of us rest and lots of patience to keep up with ESKD.💚🙏 May be another video, have you had to deal with low carbon dioxide or high magnesium? What has been your experience. Much love beautiful!🙏

When I got admitted my hemoglobin was at a 3.4 everybody was shocked that I was even walking. I was like is that bad??? lol

I know what u talking about I used to get the epogen shot for my hemoglobin but thank god im doing better. It’s frustrating being on hemo but I keep strong and keep pushing. God bless u. 🙏

They put it in the iron once I’m on the machine usually run last half an hour cause usually when I get to me I stop locking up the dialysis machine and around the same time they gave me epo

Yup, I get epogen injections, and my Hemoglobin is always like a few points below the “good zone”.

I was supposed to get iron at dialysis today but I told them I didn't want it since it makes my blood pressure drop and I have low blood pressure to begin with. I have to take medication to keep it up. But I get the iron put on the tube that has the blood that returns to your body and they push it over a course of my 4 hours. I hate the taste. It tastes like black liquorice.

On hemo, they gave it to me straight In the IV during dialysis. It was NASTY. Lol I could taste it in my mouth.

I do my own iron in the machine 3 times a week. I love it. I give myself arenesp when the doc allows it. Simple shot. I wish I got epogen worked sooooo much better.
