I feel like if you need a degree to get a specific job, you should have enough money to not only pay off your loans where you will only have them at the longest 10 years but you will have enough to live off of even a little extra so you can do things to make you happy.

my son worked a year as a computer lab assistant at an elementary school the next yr he went back as a janitor because of the abusive teachers and administration. being a janitor was SAFER and even paid better

Don’t teachers also have to attend workshops during the summer? And even if they did have the whole summer off, the late night paper grading and lesson plans make up for that.
