Sharing because for most of my life I wouldn’t have been able to articulate what was happening internally for my mind & body when cPTSD flashbacks like this occurred. 🥺 To be honest, I just thought being totally physiologically & mentally hijacked by dissociation like this multiple times a day was “normal”. Because it *was* my normal. I have DID (dissociative identity disorder). 🤦🏼‍♀️ But I’ve been living in a healthy state of nervous system regulation for the majority of my time for the past few months (🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻) and it’s made it clear how living with a severely dysregulated nervous system has negatively affected nearly every day of my life. 💔 I share because I wish I’d seen more people articulating how it actually *felt* to be living with daily cPTSD flashbacks and/or dissociation. I might’ve connected the dots more quickly for my system and saved myself some unnecessary compounded trauma. 🤷🏼‍♀️ #cptsd #cptsdrecovery #dissociation #dissociativeidentitydisorder #did #grounding #embodiment
