I resonate soooooo much to this. Ironically, my life is panning out in similar ways as my mother…. Now that I’m older and experiencing more of life I understand so much that I didn’t in my early 20s and teenager years. She passed away a few years ago and I wish I could tell her I now see why she was the way she was. it’s a blessing you and your mom can share remorse in freedom together.

Its really hard to leave a cult. Especially if its the only life you have known. The fear of the outside is a powerful cult weapon. I have no doubt that she was doing her best.

your mum was raised in the same cult as you and believed the same things. nobody purposely decided to join a cult and ruin there children's lives. As you said she did the best she could with the knowledge she had. You broke the cycle and I'm sure she is proud of you. You all did the best.
