That quote alone shows that Gale didn’t belong with Katniss becayse he didn’t believe that she had the capabilities to even pick the person that she couldn’t survive with. I love Gale as a character but he wasn’t for Katniss. He believed that Katniss was just Trauma bonded to Peeta and that thats why she believed that she couldn’t survive without but actually Peeta was the first person she let in truly after her fathers death. The Gale Katniss knew was traumatised Katniss in survival mode who didn’t let a single person , not even him, in. Peeta helped her heal her mindset that she didn’t need anyone. Peeta woulf have known that Katniss was capable of making that decision without it being wtong and that’s why peeta is the one for her. He would have let her choose and knew it was the best decision FOR HER. Gale would have criticised the choose even if it was him and had katniss picked him they would have been miserable together because both believe showing vulnerability is a weakness and therefore woulf be unhappy forever

Was it just me but when gale said i love you in that cabin did anyone scream cause that was not in the movie and it was a audio book so i did not see that coming
