I had a question about the fire tetrahedron, I was taught about the triangle, wouldn’t the 3 elements of the triangle give you the continuous chain reaction which you say makes the tetrahedron? (Not trying to argue just trying to clarify)

The black is not necessarily fully burned. In areas with a lot of 100 hour and 1000 hour fuels, the fire can stay active in those large, slow burning fuels for weeks and then reignite the fire later. The worst is when the fire goes underground

Wind rarely switches to the exact opposite direction but it doesn't need to for a wind change to be incredibly bad for containment. Using your example, if your southerly wind (blowing north) becomes a westerly wind (blowing east) the head becomes 3x as big & the pocket may rapidly light.
