@rukalpaca: Pien makeup is I believe a term created by non Japanese jirais because I don't hear this in Japanese jirai kei community. Whether it is tareme (downturned eyes) or tsurime (upturned eyes), they're all "jirai kei makeup". Doing tareme or tsurime eyeliner is just a preference, even in non jirai kei makeup But since pien makeup seems to be widely used by non Japanese jirais to refer to the jirai kei makeup that is done in a way with tareme eyeliner and sad/worried eyebrows, I'm using it too on the video for better understanding If anybody asks "can I still be jirai kei if I don't wanna do any of the jirai kei makeup" then my answer is yes and no - Yes because I'm sure some jirais don't wear makeup everyday. Tho Japanese jirais wear masks or use stickers when taking photos on days they don't have makeup on. - No because I believe that in order to participate in a subculture, you need to follow the basics and I think makeup is one of them in jirai kei. Like as long as you do the makeup, you can still look jirai kei even when you're just wearing a shirt. If you do a western style makeup with heavy eyeshadows and arched eyebrows then you're not gonna look 100% jirai kei But of course I won't call you out for not wearing jirai kei makeup. I'm not a *clears throat* Tiktok jiraimaxxer...🥺✌️ And some people are still practicing and might not look perfect. That's okay. -- About me referring to pien makeup as "traditional jirai kei", it's because the classic pink + black jirai that is often worn with pien makeup is now already considered "oldschool" by Japanese jirais. They call it 王道地雷 (oudou jirai) which means traditional/classic jirai. It is also referred to as "2020 jirai kei". This video is made to share my knowledge as a jirai kei who interacts with Japanese jirais and has jirai friends/moots in Japan. I'm just sharing what I know and have seen in Japanese jirai kei community that seems to be not yet well-known by jirais who don't speak Japanese.
