@r.s_u: In the final days of Al-Andalus, the Islamic rule in the Iberian Peninsula began to crumble. After reaching its peak during the Umayyad Caliphate, Al-Andalus fragmented into smaller kingdoms known as the “Taifas.” This internal division significantly weakened the Muslim front and allowed northern Christian kingdoms like Castile and Aragon to advance steadily. Over time, the Taifa rulers competed for power and wealth, with some even allying with Christian kings against their fellow Muslims. Among these rulers were leaders of Berber (Amazigh) origin, especially from the Almoravid and Almohad dynasties. While the Berbers initially played a crucial role in defending Al-Andalus, their later involvement often contributed to political instability and internal conflict. Instead of uniting against the growing threat from the north, many Amazigh leaders became entangled in power struggles and tribal disputes. Some even betrayed greater causes for short-term gains. This disunity and internal weakness were among the indirect causes that led to the fall of Granada in 1492—the last Muslim stronghold in Al-Andalus—ending over 800 years of Islamic presence in the region. While the Berbers once stood as defenders of Islam in Iberia, their actions during the final phase—especially political missteps and internal rivalries—played a part in hastening the collapse of Muslim rule in Al-Andalus. #☪️ #✝️ #الاندلس #🇪🇸 #🇸🇦
