there is a lot to be said about how the great comet situation got into the larger social media sphere in a way where big name celebrities unrelated to the production were giving their two cents based on misinformation, and yet this situation (that is very straightforward) hasn’t gotten that larger scale traction… 🤨

asian american theater fan here: thank you for articulating this!!! ppl saying this is great comet 2.0 has been rubbing me the wrong way, i’ve seen way too many yt ppl on this app use this as an argument to dismiss the criticism, and even those who are supportive are still using the comparison which aids in mischaracterizing the situation

Didn’t this Tony season double or triple the total number of Tonys that have gone to Asian actors? This casting choice seems to go against the good the show has done for representation on Broadway

Well, Andrew did star in a movie with an Oscar winning actress. It bombed at the box office but it did do very well on free streaming. So not just a Bway and off-Bway actor.

He wasn’t even good as Evan Hansen, he’s a poor singer and he cannot annunciate to save his life. They lowered two songs for him. I’m shocked he didn’t close that show.
