Turbulence is getting so much worse and more frequent with climate change. I was on a transatlantic flight a couple months ago with some crazy turbulence.

This has nothing to do with climate change. It appears there were converging jet streams. The cooler polar jet entering from the NW and the warmer modified polar/STJ jet they were a moving through. Although speeds were less than 60kts, it’s the convergence of the two jets, at that level and speed, that can make the aircraft feel like it’s going to roll. The entering colder temp jet will move below the warmer jet from the SW. There may not have been any warning from pilots who previously entered this airspace as the jet streak (60kts) had just entered CONUS. This is why it’s always prudent to wear your seatbelt when flying.
